The sports afternoon for staff 2026 will take place Thursday 16 April 2026.

Target group

The sports afternoon is exclusive for staff members of Ghent University. Family or friends can’t participate.

Only effective attendees en volunteers will get service exemption during the sports afternoon..

Registration

You can only register online and this until Friday 03 April 2026 at the latest.

You can consult the remaining available spots per sport branch in the registration module.

No access to or experience with PC?

Employees who do not have access to a PC or are unfamiliar with registering online will contact the secretariat or a colleague within their department. A colleague can make the registration with the staff member’s personal UGent account.

Confirmation registration

After entering your registration you will receive a personal confirmation e-mail with your choice(s) for the sports afternoon and the location where you must register.

Locations

The various sports activities are organized at different locations. The central point is located at the university sports complex GUSB, Watersportlaan 3.

The catering takes place from 6 pm in the GUSB Sportsbar.

Price

Participation in the sports afternoon is free.

To participate in the catering you must pre-register and pay online (before 8/04/2026), there is no refund possible if you do not participate.
For practical reasons, once the catering voucher has been issued, it will only be possible to join the chosen food stand once

The possible choices for catering this year are:

• Hamburger: €9
  Delicious bun with hamburger, melted cheese, onion, tomato, and salad.
  
• Pasta Box bolognese: €10
  Tomato sauce with seasoned ground beef, vegetables, herbs, and spices.
  
• Pasta Box pesto: €10
  Basil, garlic, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil.
  
• Salmon Poke Bowl: €16
  Fresh bowl with rice, mango, cucumber, edamame, carrot, and salmon.
  
• Seaweed Poke Bowl: €16
  Fresh bowl with rice, mango, cucumber, edamame, carrot and seaweed.
  
• BBQ: €23
  3 pieces of meat: grilled sausage, juicy chicken leg, and crispy bacon, served with accompanying vegetables and garnishes from the buffet.
  
• Paella: €24
  Traditional Spanish rice dish with saffron, vegetables, and a mix of fish and/or seafood.
  

Use of (own) material

Unless otherwise stated, all material is present.

You can of course bring your own equipment such as mountain bike and bicycle helmet, badminton, padel, tennis or squash racket, table tennis bat, etc..

Your own bike is mandatory for recreational and sporty bike rides and for the sporty mountain bike tour. Your own smartphone is mandatory for the Smartphone city game.

Insurance

All employees who participate and / or cooperate are insured within the occupational accident insurance for personnel or the policy for occupational accidents (post)doctoral researchers.

Attendance registration

Your effective participation is recorded in the context of the service exemption granted. You will find more information about this when confirming your registration.
